The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed a former managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bayo Onanuga; a former Commissioner of Information in Lagos state, Dele Alake; and Minister of State Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, as head of various media directorate in the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima presidential campaign council.

Naija News reports that the media directorate has three departments – media, public affairs, and strategic communication.

In a statement on Sunday, Onanuga disclosed that he was appointed as the director of media and publicity for the campaign set to kick off in September.

According to him, Alake was appointed as director of strategic communication.

Naija News recalls that the former Lagos commissioner held this same position during President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election in 2019.

Onanuga said Festus Keyamo, who was earlier announced as the spokesman of the campaign council, would continue in that role.

He disclosed that Lanre Issa-Onilu, a former spokesperson of the APC, was appointed as deputy director of communication strategy.

The former NAN MD said Hannatu Musawa, Kehinde Bamigbetan, and Modibbo Kawu would serve as deputy director of public affairs, deputy director of media relations, and deputy director of media and publicity, respectively.

He said: “While Mohammed Bulama will be in charge of multimedia, Seun Olufemi-White will be the deputy director [of] new media.

“The tripodal arrangement, the first in a presidential campaign, has a line of other assistant directors and senior officials, representing the nation’s various regions with job specifications spelt out.

“The campaign structure will also soon unveil representatives and spokesmen in all the states of the federation.”
